2024 rent increase rate
The rent increase rate is usually the rate that determines how much the rent on a rental property will increase from one year to the next. This rate is usually specified in the lease agreement and is determined annually. The rental property owner can determine the rental price according to the rent increase rate or change this rate by negotiating with the tenant. Rent increase rate in rental properties is usually determined by economic indicators such as CPI (Consumer Price Index).
Considering the inflation in Turkey, the state has determined a limit that no more than 25% rent increase can be made in lease agreements renewed between 11.06.2022 and 01.07.2024 in order to protect the tenants. With this limitation, the rate of increase in housing rents cannot exceed 25% and contracts exceeding 25% will be deemed invalid.
This limitation is valid for residences and calculations will be made on the CPI for workplaces.
