What is Earthquake Insurance, What is DASK?
It is a type of insurance that is made to cover damages caused by earthquakes and provides material damages such as landslides, tsunamis and fires caused by earthquakes within the scope specified in the insurance system. DASK is an abbreviation consisting of the initials of the Natural Disaster Insurance Institute.
DASK refers to the compulsory insurance known as Earthquake Insurance in Turkey. It is a type of insurance that is mandatory in Turkey to protect residences and workplaces against earthquake risk.
DASK is also called Compulsory Earthquake Insurance for Residential and Business Owners in Turkey. This insurance provides basic assurance for all residences and workplaces in Turkey against earthquake risk. Compulsory Earthquake Insurance covers residences and workplaces located in earthquake zones determined by the State Hydraulic Works (DSI).
DASK is a security measure implemented to reduce material damage that may occur as a result of an earthquake and to protect citizens. This insurance partially covers damages caused by earthquakes and financially supports property owners.
State Assurance Against Earthquake: Compulsory Earthquake Insurance is an assurance system provided by the state. This insurance protects residences against the effects of earthquakes and disasters caused by earthquakes such as fire, explosion, landslide and tsunami.
Owning is Extremely Simple: Homeowners who want to secure their homes and the future of their families can easily get insurance by contacting the nearest insurance agency or bank branch. Every individual who declares his/her home and personal information has the opportunity to become a policy owner.
Accessible Insurance with Economical Monthly Premiums: Monthly premium amounts of insurance policies issued once a year are determined depending on the structure of the house, gross square meter size, construction date, number of floors and the risk level of the neighborhood in which it is located. DASK takes care to regulate the premium amount in accordance with the budget of general citizens.
Discount Advantages: Customers who renew their policy every year can benefit from the renewal discount. Depending on the construction date and number of floors, special discounts are available.
In Case of Damage: In case of damage to their residences due to an earthquake, insurance holders apply to ALO DASK 125 Call Center as the first step. Providing the authorities with the policy and/or citizenship number, the full address and contact number of the house affected by the earthquake is sufficient to open the damage tracking file.
Rapid Damage Assessment: After the insured’s claim application, DASK Damage Assessment Officer examines the insured residences on site and makes a rapid damage assessment. In this way, an appropriate compensation amount is determined as soon as possible.
Quickly Paid Compensation: The compensation amount is sent by DASK to the nearest bank branch in the name of the rightful owner mentioned in the title deed as soon as possible.
How to Get Earthquake Insurance?
Getting earthquake insurance is very important and is usually done by following the steps below:
Insurance Company Selection
The first step is to choose a reliable insurance company. In Turkey, DASK (Earthquake and Natural Disaster Insurance Institution) generally provides this type of compulsory insurance. However, you can also get earthquake insurance from private insurance companies.
Determining the Value of Your Home or Business
For the insurance policy, the value of your home or business must be determined. This is done by the insurance company using a specific formula or valuation process.
Insurance Policy Selection
When choosing an insurance policy, you should carefully examine the scope and guarantees of the policy. Earthquake insurance generally covers damage to the building, interior items and other structures.
Premium Payment
You will have to pay a determined premium to purchase your insurance policy. Premium may vary depending on policy coverage, building value, location and other factors.
Understanding Policy Details and Terms
Read the details of your insurance policy carefully and understand its terms. This is important to know which situations are covered and which are excluded.
Keeping the Policy Updated
Review your policy annually and update it if necessary. Updating your policy based on changes will help you properly protect your covered property.
Earthquake insurance is important to minimize financial losses after an earthquake and to provide financial support during the reconstruction process. Therefore, it is important to manage this process carefully and work with a reliable insurance company.
