Republic Day, 29 October 1923, Turkey’s Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey on October 29 every year to commemorate the management declared a national holiday and is celebrated in Northern Cyprus. On October 29, festivities are held in the stadiums, and traditional lantern processions are held in the evening. With a law enacted in 1925, the day of the proclamation of the Republic was declared the holiday of the new Turkish State. Republic of Turkey’s founder, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the republic’s tenth anniversary celebrations held that given by the 10th Year Speech on 29 October 1933, this day has been described as the biggest feast.
